These stunning quilt patterns are displayed here in brilliant colored hand crafted batik fabrics which are available in kits from Random Threadz. But it was while working at a local quilt shop that Sheryl discovered the beautiful hand painted batik fabrics that began her journey into quilt designing. BULLHEAD CITY - When asked why quilting has endured the test of time, quilter Althea Thomas-Swanson's eyes took on a far away look and the emotion was evident in her voice. The Colorado River Quilters Guild will offer Tri-state residents the chance to see such quilts during the Quilts on the River quilt show held Saturday and Sunday at the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce. Along with quilts displayed by crafters from Bullhead City, Laughlin, Mohave Valley, Fort Mojave and Needles, the show will offer attendees quilt-related vendors - such as scissors and knife sharpening, fabric suppliers and pattern distributors - the opportunity to win a quilt and an area reserved for antique and historical quilting memorabilia. Thomas-Swanson will display the first quilt she made in the antique and historical section, located in the upstairs conference room at the chamber, which will also feature antique sewing machines, trunks, furniture items, spinning wheels and family heirlooms. read more
