Unfinished quilt leads to lifelong hobby (The Ashland Gazette)- Topic: quilting patterns

GREENWOOD – An unfinished quilt inherited from her grandmother led Judy Hendrix to a four-decade love affair with quilting that grows each day. The Greenwood woman will share her passion for quilting and her love of fabric, color and quilt design during a trunk show entitled “Making Friends and Making Quilts” on Saturday, Oct. Her mother sent the quilt, still on the quilt frame, to Hendrix. Her grandmother had painstakingly drawn the quilting pattern on the fabric with blue fabric markers, so it was clear what needed to be done to finish the quilt. While it took four years to finish grandma’s quilt, it did not take long for Hendrix to catch the quilting bug and dive head first into the hobby.

(quilting patterns) Entrepreneurs: Sewing, vacuum store focuses on customers’ input (Billings Gazette)

Franks has attracted new customers to his store with a new Web site, and he’s keep his loyal customers coming back by incorporating their input in changes at the store. My wife uses and owns Viking sewing machines at her business and asked me to see if we could buy this one to keep the doors open, and it looked like a good move in June 2008. But my wife already had a business in Billings Heights, and we have owned that business for 15 years. I have asked the business class at Montana State University Billings to analyze my store to give me a new perspective and maybe even a new direction.

quilting patterns - Celebrating Quilting Culture: Convention helps build momentum toward a museum … - Times-Georgian

Ross was one of several quilting enthusiasts who traveled to Carrollton earlier this month to celebrate quilting culture and promote the future Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum. Kimber Pepper, president of the West Georgia Quilters Guild, said the convention succeeded in its goal of raising awareness about the museum. As part of that group effort, Pepper said, many West Georgia residents have already offered to donate family heirlooms in the form of old textile equipment or valuable quilts to the future museum. Recently, Osterkamp formed the Southeast Quilt and Textile Museum as a separate entity from the Georgia Quilt Council.
