Craft store hits 30-year mark - Calaveras Enterprise- quilting patterns
In August 1980, Ginger and Chuck Duffy moved to Calaveras County from Santa Clara, where they left their jobs as a secretary and electrician to open Country Cloth, fulfilling Ginger’s lifelong dream of owning a sewing store. Ginger started taking class after class to learn the craft, and 30 years later 80 percent of Country Cloth’s inventory is devoted to quilting. For 28 years, Country Cloth has been a licensed Bernina sewing machine dealer because, Ginger said, the machine is “the Cadillac of the industry. While the store is mainly focused on quilting, Ginger said, it’s still a sewing store, where crafters can come in to buy supplies and peruse patterns and fabric. To celebrate 30 years in business, Ginger and Chuck Duffy are offering a week of sales at Country Cloth.
