Many seniors finding art and friendship in quilting (McKinney Courier-Gazette)- Topic: quilting patterns
It’s almost no coincidence that Lola Ann Johnson has a love of quilting. Nancy Hise, a McKinney resident, said she dabbled in quilting when she was younger but didn’t really get into it until a few years ago. After returning to quilting in 2003, Hise has grown to love it so much that arthritis hasn’t even stopped her. Trenton resident Shirley Chapman, who is the quilting leader, has been quilting for the past 20 years. The quilting group is currently working on quilts for cancer patients at the McKinney Regional Cancer Center. While the women of the quilting group keep busy making their creative quilts, Hise said they also find time to just enjoy each other’s company. read more
