Quilters help patch community one square at a time - NeighborNewspapers.com- About: quilting patterns
Albertha Brown of Douglasville talks excitedly about her work to a fellow Cherokee Rose Quilterās Guild member during the clubās monthly meeting last week at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lithia Springs. The 84 member group, whose participants come from Atlanta to the Alabama state line, gather at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lithia Springs the second and fourth Thursday of every month to share new ideas and designs. Each year the members of the guild also select a project that benefits the citizens of Douglas County. Examples of these projects in recent years included quilts for family members of the National Guard unit deployed from the Douglasville Armory, a reproduction quilt for the Sweetwater State Park Museum which was signed by descendentās of the evacuees who returned for a reunion in 2005, bedding for animals at the Humane Society, financial donation to the accessible playground near Clinton Farms and more.
