Topic: quilting patterns - Quilting isn't just for old ladies: Hobby becomes business opportunity - Osakis Review
Osakis Review photo by Greta Petrich This sampler quilt is one of the many creations Linda Pallow has made. Linda Pallow of Osakis was in the flower business and all the lifting became too much for her husband, John, so she decided to take on something lighter â” quilting. A desire to make her own clothes led a young Pallow to the New York Extension service â” a place she felt, at the time, was filled with old ladies (they were in their 60s). The two yards of batting that goes inside the quilt cost $10 per yard and the meandering quilting stitch â” something she pays someone to do â” costs $40. Pallow estimated she spent at least a week â” she works on her quilts about six hours a day â” cutting and putting it together.
