Topic: quilting patterns - Quilts help ill children at Newman’s camp (Boston Globe)

Several years later, Newman called her personally to ask if she could make quilts for his Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford. In the past, the women have been asked for twin-sized quilts — 72 inches long by 64 inches wide — but these are time-consuming and difficult for the less experienced quilters. So this year the guild decided to make smaller quilts — about 40 inches by 58 inches — lessening the work involved for each quilt and raising the number of quilts that will be completed. The women were up to their elbows in quilts, fabric and thread at a recent work session to make quilts for the campers. Debbie Wilson, of Trumbull, who has made three comfort quilts this year, said the guild tries to use different patterns and color combinations for each quilt. Two years ago, the women delivered 56 quilts to the camp; this year, they have already completed 66 quilts.
