Vintage, With Bermudas (New York Times)- Topic: quilting patterns
MILAN — “When I grew up, they were my references — Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin — and I thought let’s make it fun for 2010! At Trussardi 1911, the designer Milan Vukmirovic offered an updated vintage look. Inspired also by his mother wearing pied de poule, or dogtooth patterns, the designer literally sparked up tweed by inserting Lurex threads and extended the metallic effects with laminated silver. The collection had an updated vintage look with its revival of coat dresses and its use of Bermuda shorts, which are a strong story of the autumn/winter 2010 season. War movies may distort events, but they can also raise public awareness, writes Erik Malmstrom.
